Does anyone else feel like their travel wishlists get longer every year?
We work full-time and have other considerations to factor in (like travel to see families) so we’re often juggling wanting to do all the things and go everywhere with, well, reality π
With that in mind, we’re keeping a short list for dog-friendly destinations this year, and hope to explore more of our own backyard.
Two National Parks β New River Gorge & Cuyahoga Valley
We referenced this in our national parks guide, but we’ve only been to five of the 10 of our picks! New River Gorge and Cuyahoga Valley National Parks are two that are pretty close to us that we haven’t been to, and we’re eager to check them out this year. Leaning towards visiting New River Gorge over the summer (just look at these photos from To Make Much of Time!) and Cuyahoga Valley come fall based on More than Just Parks‘ suggestion.)

Some of Ohio’s State Parks
This is pretty vague mostly because we haven’t done much research yet, and this isn’t really Ohio’s prime season for outdoor adventuring. (Do you have any recommendations? Let us know in the comments!)
Outer Banks
We’ve been going to the Outer Banks on and off for better part of a decade, and we’d love to get back there this year. TBD still!

Red River Gorge & Daniel Boone National Forest
Red River Gorge has been on our list since moving back to the region, and Pennies, Places, and Paws had a great overview of how to make the most of visiting the area with a dog.
All that said, who knows where the year will take us. Anticipation is half the fun!
Do you have any travel plans locked in for 2024 yet?
